We live in a city called Zhongli, Jhongli or Chung-li, you choose! There is a reason why you never heard of it! We are glad we live on campus: with trees, path walks, manicured bushes, flowers, clean streets…Zhongli, on the other hand, is dirty and smelly, with no real sidewalks, street dogs, no greenery, abandon things, pile of debris, crazy (yet extremely slow) traffic, with people living on top of each other, and huge billboards all over the place. Once you get to the train station (we need to take the bus there, 20 minutes ride from home), it’s 40’to 60’ to
Taipei. We are south of
Taipei. What we have learned is that outside
Taipei, every city is like Zhongli: unplanned, dirty…uninviting. They are trying to change this fact, and some new parts are much nicer (including in Zhongli).

Close to home, where the campus ends and the city starts.

No sidewalk!
